Major General Ambrose Haughton was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 17th Jump Infantry Division as of 2764.[1]

Haughton was an old friend of XXI Corps commander Gideon Vandergrift, who met him personally several times a year, bonding of their shared antipathy for the Royal Divisions within the SLDF. His connections within SLDF High Command saved him from being removed for his post, despite continued his agitation against the Royal units, including delaying a combat drop during war games rather than assist the 181st Royal Mechanized Infantry Division.[1]
