Rank General

Armando Luchesi was an officer of the Terran Alliance during the Outer Reaches Rebellion.[1]

History[edit]

Following Ryde, Sevren, and Freedom's declarations of independence from the Alliance in 2235, General Luchesi was one of the Alliance military leaders called upon to discuss the government's response. Three hours into the heated meeting, Luchesi and Admiral Leondard Juillard left the room and returned shortly after, without informing anybody else that they had just organized a counterattack to reclaim the rebel worlds.[1]

This action involved dispatching three squadrons of vessels from the 2nd Interstellar Strategic Combined Assault Force, who had been on exercise near Saturn and as a result were able to reach the three targeted systems in just three days. But the plan Luchesi helped draw up proved to be over-ambitious and ultimately failed to quell the revolts or prevent the rebellion from spreading to other systems.[1]

After the Alliance's total defeat Luchesi wrote a memoir, The Road to Freedom, which was published in 2241. In it, he judged his fellow general Gunther Stein, who had commanded the initial counterattack against the rebel colonies, a fool who had placed too much reliance upon numbers and neglected the emotional side of war. Luchesi also claimed to have strongly opposed a military response against the colonies, as there could be no satisfactory victory for anybody involved. In the pithy judgement of a future ComStar historian, Luchesi's book was not a best-seller.[2][3]

Legacy[edit]

Centuries later, as Clan Nova Cat's involvement in the Battle of Tukayyid ended with the near-annihilation of its forces, Khan Severen Leroux reflected that his name would be known alongside that of Luchesi and other notoriously incompetent generals throughout history.[4]
