Description[edit]

The BattleMech Landing Craft is a specialized seagoing transport vessel. Built on the foundation of Hagan Industries' civilian cargo ferry, the landing craft was designed for the SLDF's CAAN regiments, providing a way to land and rapidly deploy BattleMechs from the sea. After the fall of the Star League, it largely fell into disuse in favor of its civilian cargo version.[1]

Equipment and Capabilities[edit]

The landing craft is heavily armored, and bears a turret with streak SRM-2 packs and anti-missile systems, giving it some protection (preferably aided by escorts) en route to shore. Its fission engine gives it some speed, while docking thrusters enhance maneuverability. Each craft can carry a lance of BattleMechs, which can be deployed in less than half a minute. The 'Mech bays double as repair bays, and dual lift hoists ease bringing aboard damaged 'Mechs.[1]

Variants[edit]

  • Hagan Cargo Ferry
The original and better-known civilian vessel, introduced in 2599,[3] is little different - lighter armor, space for shipping containers rather than 'Mech bays, and no armaments. Conversions between the two are easy and quick, if the equipment is available. BV (2.0) = 1,736[1][4]
