Welcome to BattleTechWiki:Project Clans. Several users have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving BattleTechWiki's coverage of the Clans to include such things as their Way of Life, Rites, Customs, Organization, and other such articles. Additionally, we look at how the organization of information and articles on this topic should be standardized. This page and its subpages contain suggestions and various resources to these ends; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other editors interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please add yourself as a participant in the project, inquire on the discussion page, and see the to-do list, below.

Goals

The goals of this project is to improve BattleTechWiki's coverage of the Clans by including such things as their Way of Life, Rites, Customs, Organization, and other such articles.

To that end, with the upcoming release of the IlClan Era it makes it a wise choice to begin a major update and standard for all of the Clans not only still active, but those lost along the way.

The many editors over the years have done an awesome job of making sure the entries of the militaries or Toumans of the Clans have been kept up-to-date, however the culture entries seems to either lack fullness, are in dire need of a clean up, or in some cases are grossly out of date.

Scope

THe scope of this project is broad so we will be coming out with different focus points as we see how much content there is to edit. As we are dealing with such a big part of Battletech, it will take time to make sure our references are correct. However, the Clans also had many personalities that were involved with the fiction that we need to make sure are referenced correctly as they may have references already on the wiki yet not marked.

Editing advice

  • The issues you will find the most notable is either the grossly out of date articles or articles missing complete areas of history. This is mostly due to some of the resources coming out in the last few years, as well as the crowd of players that believes nothing is happening after 3067. Popular ones are:

Discussion Points

Smaller Items

  • Link the Bloodnames to their individual pages and/or create them if need
  • Category the Bloodnames to the Clans that hold them, no matter how they hold them. (How should this work for the shared ones though post Wars of Reaving...)

Medium Items

  • Scour the Wiki for all the Clan Warriors of each Bloodname and add them to their individual pages

Bigger Items

  • Particularly those absorbed, annihilated or abjured Clans indicate just how dead (or not) their Bloodnames are.
  • Finish any remaining tables, fix any linking issues and find refs for the narratives.
  • Take out the little bit of narratives on the individual bloodnames in the sections parts and put them in those individual pages.
  • Use the Special:Concepts to assist users to understand what they are looking at
  • find and include more refs
  • Flesh out more
