BattleTechWiki:Project Clans

Welcome to BattleTechWiki:Project Clans. Several users have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving BattleTechWiki's coverage of Way of Life, Rites, and Customs and the organization of information and articles on this topic. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other editors interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please add yourself as a participant in the project, inquire on the discussion page, and see the to-do list, below.

Goals

The goals of this project is to improve BattleTechWiki's coverage of the Battletech's Clans with a focus on their rites, customs and way of life. The many editors over the years have done an awesome job of making sure the entries of the militaries or Toumans of the Clans have been kept up-to-date however the culture entries seems to either lack fullness, are in dire need of a clean up, or in some cases are grossly out of date.

Scope

THe scope of this project is broad so we will be coming out with different focus points as we see how much content there is to edit. As we are dealing with such a big part of Battletech it will take time to make sure our references are correct. However also the Clans had many personalities that were involved with the fiction that we need to make sure are also referenced correctly as they may have references already on the wiki yet not marked.

  • Bloodnames
  • List of Bloodnames
  • Particularly those absorbed/annihilated/abjured Clans indicate just how dead (or not) their Bloodnames are.
  • Finish any remaining tables, fix any linking issues and find refs for the narratives.
  • Taking out the tables in the Clan pages and linking them to the main List of Bloodnames for better control and editing function
  • Link the Bloodnames to their individual pages (if created) and/or create the page using the template (that needs to be finalized)
  • Take out the little bit of narratives on the individual bloodnames in the sections parts and put them in those individual pages.
  • Category the Bloodnames to the Clans that hold them, no matter how they hold them. (How should this work for the shared ones though post Wars of Reaving...)
  • Scour the Wiki for all the Clan Warriors of each Bloodname and add them to their individual pages (maybe....)
  • Use the Special:Concepts to assist users to understand what they are looking at
  • Clans being Reborn
  • Clans that are now being called officially something else are that something else for example Clan Wolf by 3145 is the Wolf Empire and any reference to after that date should be as of being it's new name. Yes it is still a Clan, however just like any other faction they have officially changed their name and as an aid to players we should change to match the timeline. Unless we wish to start making new pages each time a faction changes their name or slightly changes what they are.
  • This is again shown as there is 2 different pages for Clan Snow Raven and Raven Alliance.
  • Even more odd is the Clan Ghost Bear page and it's Rasalhague Dominion page which both seem to being updated with the same information (which makes sense I guess as they are the same thing after all)
  • The worst of all is the confusing story of Clan Sea Fox and it switching to it's Clan Diamond Shark name and back again. So many articles are worded obviously with whichever they were at the time and due to their name at the present time in the fiction being Sea Fox again does that mean we have to recon the entire wiki somehow? (I only say this as I'm having to change the current bloodname tables to reflect this)
