The Biham system was the location of at least one habitable world, Biham I, and as at 3145 was located in the Al Na'ir Prefecture of the Dieron Military District within the Draconis Combine.[2][3]

System Description

The Biham system is located close to the Ancha and Sadachbia systems.[2][3]

System History

The Biham system was colonised at some pointprior to the end of the Reunification War[4] and consists of a class AOVI primary orbited by three planets; the first planet in the system is habitable, while the two outer planets are both gas giants. The smaller of these two gas giants, Tiberius, has been orbited by a space fuel refinery operated by Yoshimatsu Chemicals for centuries.[1]

Biham I

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Biham I - more commonly known simply as Biham - is the inner most of three planets in the Biham system and the only planet in the system not to be a gas giant. Biham has two moons named Kyoko and Valus, both of which are home to petrochemical processing centers operated by Yoshimatsu Chemicals, and the surface of the planet is home to a number of facilities operated by the same company.[1]

Planetary History

Biham's first settlers were interested in exploiting the coal, natural gas, and petroleum deposits on the world. They were so interested in exploiting these resources in fact that they failed to notice that they were poisoning the world. After the rapid devastation the fragile ecosystem, the planetary government stepped in and forced the companies to meet stringent guidelines for environmental safety. Though this put many of the worst offenders out of business, it didn't stop the fact that travelers were warned to stay away from the world to protect their health and that everything that came off the world's surface had to go through an expensive decontamination process.[1]

The only company to meet the planetary guidelines was Yoshimatsu Chemicals, a large chemical corporation from the Draconis Combine. After the Jihad ended they controlled a wide variety of facilities in Biham, including a space fuel refinery orbiting a gas giant and processing centers on the moons.[1]

In the War of 3039 the system was invaded by the Eighth Crucis Lancers and Laurel's Legion.[5] Though the system administrators were willing to join the Federated Commonwealth, the arrival of the Fifth and Sixth Ghost regiments put an end to that plan. Their arrival, combined with coordination problems between the FedCom units, allowed Biham to remain a possession of the Dragon.[6]

  • Planetary Legate Dominic Yoshimatsu[1]

Geography

Prior to human habitation Biham had an extremely fragile ecosystem; this ecosystem was brutalised during the human occupation of the world. Biham has a number of continents including a polar continent named Borellas and two temperate continents named Hoshina and Quang-tze.[1]

Planetary Locations

  • Siang: planetary capital city and site of the corporate headquarters of Yoshimatsu Chemicals and a major plastics and polymers plant run by the company. Siang is located on the north shore of Hoshina.[1]
