Billy Talltree was a warlord criminal and self-proclaimed President of Blue Diamond.
History[edit]
Billy Talltree was a strongman on the Blue Diamond during the Clan Jade Falcon rule. After their Touman departed, and the Falcon's Occupation Zone became the Hinterlands, he saw his opportunity, moving into the power vacuum. He recruited some armed men, overthrow the Clan military governor, not long after the Falcons had departed, and declared himself Blue Diamond's president, a de facto dictator ruling by brute force and fear. Expecting to increase his profits, he halted all food exports to the nearby planet Arcturus, citing a crop blight. That greatly affected Arcturus, as their own harvests have greatly diminished, and hunger and chaos threatened the population. But Talltree ignored the arrival recently on Arcturus of the 26th Arcturan Guards. Talltree said their industry had problems, but the Arcturans sent a recon team to Blue Diamond, uncovering the truth.[1]
Soon after, a mixed battalion arrived to Blue Diamond. They posed as mercenaries, and landed the 24 July 3151 on Cobalt City's spaceport. Talltree invited the mercs' commander into what he called presidential palace. He attempted to contract them as their personal guard, but even unarmed, the mercenary leader, Major Micah Mitchum jumped over him, took his weapon and knocked him down. Talltree's bodyguards were annihilated by the mercenary unit, and he was captured. After his captor, which really was the 26th Kommandant Micah Mitchum resolved the food situation, a gibbet was built in front of the presidential mansion, and Billy, along with his thugs, swung from it.[2][3]
Legacy[edit]
Talltree's actions had unexpected consequences: The 26th commander, Sarah Regis had already decided to secede from the Lyran Commonwealth, but Billy's actions had proved her than Arcturus cannot survive as independent planet, so she decided to resurrect the Tamar Pact. Blue Diamond, probably for Talltree's actions, gladly joined the new state.[4]
Physical Description[edit]
Billy was described as an obese man with a shaved head and cold, dark eyes, always having a pistol and a knife on him.[5]
