The Carmichael system was home to at least one habitable world and as at 3145 was located in the Sirdar Operational Area of the Capellan March within the Federated Suns.[1][2]

System Description

The Carmichael system is located near the Diefenbaker and Lindsay systems.[1][2]

System History

The Carmichael system was settled during or shortly after the First Exodus from Terra and by the time the Capellan Confederation formed in the mid-twenty-fourth century Carmichael was a member of the Taurian Concordat.[3]

Reunification War

Carmichael is a world rich in natural resources, but the heavy gravity and powerful storms that constantly beat through the tainted atmosphere make it a miserable place. During the Reunification War the world was attacked by the SLDF's IV Corps, Tenth Division and Twelfth Division.[54] For the next three years the SLDF troops would fight against a guerrilla force, only taking the world when they called down orbital bombardments and engaged in close quarter combat with defenders hidden in caves and mine systems.[55]

Jihad

In response to the asteroid bombardment of Taurus and evidence that implicated the Federated Suns, the Taurian Concordat launched a second invasion of the Federated Suns during the Jihad. Carmichael was a target for the second wave of attacks, and was captured during the third week of July 3074.[44][45] Carmichael was targeted during Operation MATADOR, the 3080 AFFS counteroffensive against the Taurian Concordat, with the elite Davion Assault Guards (fresh from their conquest of nearby Flintoft) taking the world for the Federated Suns.[56]
