Category:Short Stories

This category includes all individual pieces of short fiction published for the BattleTech universe. BattleCorps summarily defined "short fiction" in the BattleTech universe as fiction of up to 40,000 words.

Generally, there are 500 words per page and stories of up to 7,500 words (15 pages) are considered "short stories", stories between 7,500 and 17,500 words (16-35 pages) are considered "novelettes", and stories of between 17,500 and 40,000 words (36-80 pages) are considered "novellas" by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America; see also: Word count.)

A given piece of fiction can generally be regarded as short fiction for the purpose of inclusion in this category if it has a title, constitutes a complete story with a story arc (as opposed to a sourcebook written from an in-universe viewpoint or a mere short piece of fiction such as the fiction boxes that often come with scenarios), and is not considered a novel.

Some BattleTech stories may be categorized as both a short story and a novel.
