Description
The ACL-800 Comet Airliner is a product of Avanti Aerospace of Canonbie, designed to be a normal commercial services aircraft, versus many of Avanti's luxury oriented civilian aircraft.[1][2]
The Comet's been noted for its flexibility and it many features, which made it popular in both Lyran and Davion space. Many planetary leaders and corporate executives have purchased these planes to make into their own customized air vehicle. The design has proven so popular that it has been copied widely throughout the Inner Sphere.[1][2]
Equipment and Capabilities
The Comet has the capacity of flying 120 passenger (including stewards). These accommodations have been placed on the two passenger decks. A pair of first class passenger cabins for high-end passengers are found the first deck. These suites offer banquet facilities and can be quickly converted into business conference centers. The business suite can also use the craft's communications system to tie into the local news, interweb, and holovid stations.[1][2]
The craft has been equipped with 12 lifeboats for use in an emergency water landing. It also possesses a small medical bay to handle minor medical emergencies that occur in-flight.[1][2]
The Comet has a 21 ton fuel capacity, allowing it fly 750 km with its four Avanti AA-700 engines.[1][2]
Cargo
In the rear of the plane is a secured cargo bay, which has 7 ton cargo capacity with rear mounted door. The cargo facilities allow storage of everything from standard luggage to small vehicles.[1][2]
The craft features a small sickbay to handle minor medical issues.[1][2]
Variants
- Cattle Car - The Cattle Car is the nickname for a stripped down version of the Comet. These ACL-800s meant for dedicate passenger and cargo service removes the two first class cabins and doubles the passenger and cargo capacities of the base model.[1][2]
Notes
The ACL-800 features enough Paramedic Equipment to treat four persons.[1][2]
