General Daishin Makarau was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 14th Army, off and on, from at least 2764 to 2784.[1][2][3]

History

Draconis Combine

Due to growing up in the Draconis Combine, Makarau spoke with a heavy Combine accent, which he retained his entire life.[3]

Having successfully commanded 14th Army for years as of 2764, General Makarau managed to convince SLDF command to allow him to kept his headquarters on Dieron in the Terran Hegemony, despite it being some distance from his nearest forces in the Draconis Combine. While some believed Makarau obtained this concession as a political favor to remain in the Hegemony, he was not fond of social and political gatherings with his peers, and spent his time reviewing reports from his subordinates.[2]

Amaris Civil War

Makarau retained command of 14th Army at the start of the Amaris Civil War[1], but by 2772 had been seconded to lead the 21st Army Group for Operation CHIEFTAIN, being given responsibility for the Hegemony's Lockdale Province border with the Draconis Combine. This position allowed Makarau and his forces to penetrate deeply into the Hegemony, as they fought to liberate it from Amaris Empire forces.

During this time with 21st Army Group, Makarau's usual command of 14th Army was assigned to General Saulius T.L. Dragulescu, who led them under Makarau during Operation CHIEFTAIN.[4]

Operation Exodus

Makarau survived the Amaris Civil War, having returned to command of 14th Army as of 14 February 2784, to be at Commanding General Aleksandr Kerensky's announcement of Operation EXODUS to senior SLDF's officers on Terra.

At this meeting, Makarau opposed General Tatjana Baptiste, who advocated for destroying those SLDF units who had chosen to join one of the Successor State militaries on the basis they were deserters. Makarau had lost troops to defection, and did not favor fighting against them. Commanding General Aleksandr Kerensky ultimately also sided against Baptiste, in preference for his Exodus plan.[3]
