David Cline was a senior officer in the Star League Defense Force's 238th Mechanized Infantry Division and later a founding member of the Eighth Lyran Regulars.[1]
History[edit]
In 2775, agents of the Lyran Commonwealth approached the remnants of the 238th Mechanized Infantry in the hopes of recruiting experienced soldiers for their military forces. Colonel Cline's faction of the 238th MI had been imprisoned in a stockade for causing internal violence within the unit and the Lyran solicitors promised his and his men's freedom if they accepted the offer. When the non-imprisoned elements of the 238th MI splintered even further between those willing to accept payment from the Lyrans for Cline's troops and those unwilling to betray the ideals of Aleksandr Kerensky, Cline's soldiers would ultimately be freed to serve the Lyran Commonwealth after a fierce battle between both factions. Cline and his soldiers would go on to become the core of the Eighth Lyran Regulars, while his liberators became the Iron Raven Mercenary Group and his captors limped off to join Kerensky's exodus from the Inner Sphere.
