The Drozan system was home to at least one habitable world, Drozan V, and as of 3145 was located in the Victoria Commonality of the Capellan Confederation.[4][5]

System Description

The Drozan system is located near the Ordino and Turin systems[6] and consists of a class F2V primary orbited by at least five worlds. During the thirty-first century recharge stations were in place at both the system nadir and zenith jump points.[1][2][3]

System History

The Drozan system was colonized during the Star League era at some point after the end of the Reunification War.[7][6]

Drozan V

Planetary History

Succession Wars

Drozan was one of the Capellan Confederation's vital agricultural worlds during the Succession Wars. According to ComStar, in 3025 Drozan's large arable plains produced enough crops to provide 5% of the entire Confederation's needs,[1] although this claim was later proven to be somewhat inaccurate as it referred to luxury foods, rather than all foods.[2] The farms were managed by large automated cultivation and processing plants that ran continuously; it was this high degree of automation that made Drozan so bountiful. These farms were supplemented by large aquaculture installations which provided more foodstuffs for the Confederation.[1]

Given its importance and agricultural output, it was no surprise that the Confederation established research centers devoted to food synthesis on the world. Prior to the Fourth Succession War the Strategios also stationed a battalion of Warrior House troops on the world, rotating the unit so enemy intelligence agencies couldn't get a good view of the defenders. In addition, Drozan featured a large base that housed motorized and jump infantry units.[1]

Pre-Jihad Era

By 3067 the agriculture industry on Drozan had grown yet further, utilizing both land and sea to produce everything from exotic artisanal grains through to gourmet meats, and the Capellan market share for luxury foods occupied by produce from Drozan had increased to 8%;[2] the aquaculture practiced on Drozan was particularly famous, in part due to the fecundity of a native species known as Exocoregonus Oceanis Drozanus, or more commonly as the Drozan Whitefish.[8] The agribusiness industry on Drozan had also diversified further with the release of information from the Helm Memory Core, becoming a powerhouse in agricultural genetic engineering.[2]

Drozan had been at peace since the war with the Duchy of Andurien and the Magistracy of Canopus in the wake of the Fourth Succession War, and this had lead to an increasing volume of complaints from the grovers working the northern continent over the tax burden of supporting the large military cantonment and training facility on the planet, and Lord Henry Kingsbury was doing his best to educate his fellow grangers about the importance of the military presence and facilities, both from the perspective of his roles as owner of one of the largest granges on Drozen, as planetary ruler, and as possible recipient of a visit from the Maskirovka.[2]

The military installations on Drozan had continued to focus on infantry training and the training facility located in the coastal city of Midas had become the site of one of the few dedicated underwater combat schools to be found anywhere in the Confederation. Rumors on the planet speculated that the facility was impressive enough that the Death Commandos were going to take a hand in the training offered at the facility.[2]

Post-Jihad Era

By 3079 the cadets trained at the Duchy RTC facility on Drozan were acknowledged as benefiting from excellent jump and motorized infantry courses, with the facility also producing cadets who excelled at underwater operations thanks to the SCUBA program which remained generously funded.[3]
