The Elissa system was home to at least one habitable world, Elissa IX,[1] and as of 3145 was located in the Periphery region known as The Barrens.[2][3]

System Description

Elissa is located near the Ferris and Nyserta systems[2][3] and consists of a class F1V primary orbited by at least nine worlds.[1]

System History

The Elissa system was colonized at some point during or prior to the Star League era, and by the height of the Star League was a member of the Apollo Province of the Rim Worlds Republic.[4][5]

Elissa IX, more commonly known simply as Elissa, is the ninth planet in the system and has a single moon named Miranda.[1]

Planetary History

Originally settled by people looking to escape from technology, Elissa was subsequently conquered by the Oberon Confederation during the Succession Wars. Allegedly part of the nature preserve that formed the Elysian Fields the Confederation actually strip-mined the world for the few resources it offered and brutalized the population.

In 3049, Clan forces "marked with wolf's-head Insignia" attacked Elissa, facing only token resistance from the planetary garrison and issuing personal challenges. ROM Agent "Mirrorshades" managed to send an emergency report out as the HPG complex came under fire. The report abruptly cut off as the HPG was destroyed. In truth it was not Clan Wolf, but Clan Ghost Bear's 312th Assault Trinary, the Silver Kodiaks, whose insignia is a bear's head in profile. Their commander, Star Captain Edwin Gilmour had hoped to find a top-secret Star League research facility for Project Achilles. Instead, they found abandoned mines in the mountains. Refusing to garrison a planet that was the source of such shame, the Ghost Bears left.[38][25]

Rid of their pirate overlords the population heaved a sigh of relief and went back to their own lives.[1] In 3052, Tukayyid Conal Ward initiated a Trial of Possession for the world, after which it became the base for Thirty-first Wolf Solahma Cluster as they pursued bandits and pirates through the Periphery.[25] In late 3055, the inhabitants noted that traffic to an abandoned mining facility in the mountains increased dramatically, but didn't alert anyone because they didn't want the Clan leadership to interfere with their lives. Though persistent rumors claimed the Red Corsair was on the world, it wasn't until the Kell Hounds arrived that anyone believed them.[1]

Elissa was a stronghold of the One Star Faith, who settled there prior to the Clan Invasion. Several One Star adherents even traveled from Elissa to the Clan Homeworlds where by 3067 the faith had spread among the lower Castes and Clan Cloud Cobra's Star of the Magi Cloister[39][40]

The world was taken by Clan Hell's Horses sometime during the Jihad. They remained in power through 3085, but by 3086 they had left Elissa completely. In 3087, Elissa joined the Ferris Collective, a group of several systems that had been abandoned by the Horses.[41]
