Brigadier General Eric Ayres was the commander of the XV Hastati Sentinels, with the Republic of the Sphere, from at least 3145 to 3151.[1][2]
History[edit]
Devil's Rock[edit]
Ayres, with the XV Hastati Sentinels, was based on Devil's Rock as of 3145.[1] At this time the Fifteenth was rebuilding from its losses suffered during Operation DAMNATIO, though Brigadier General Ayres was impressed with his troops, and pushed hard to maintain their edge as they recovered strength. As a result their expansion was slow, as they judiciously selected candidates to join the unit.[3]
Battle of Terra[edit]
Still in command of the Fifteenth as of 3151, Ayres participated in the Battle of Terra, including the fighting in Africa. During this campaign the Fifteenth attempted to surround Clan Wolf's Delta Galaxy near Casablanca, but their trap was broken by reinforcements from Gamma Galaxy. Falling back to Marrakesh, they fought the Wolves in the city itself, before Clan Jade Falcon's Gamma Galaxy under Galaxy Commander Jane Thastus also entered the fray from the south. Seeing his position had become untenable, Brigadier General Ayres surrendered to the Wolves in preference to the Falcons on 10 April, stating afterwards that "surrender to the Falcons is akin to suicide, and I will not forfeit my troops’ lives like that".[2]
