Francisco de Argall was the commanding officer of the Twenty-second Skye Rangers as of 3042.[1]

History[edit]

Leftenant General de Argall, serving with the Twenty-second Skye Rangers, was stationed on Engadine in 3050.[2] By 3062, now-Colonel de Argall continued to command the Twenty-second Rangers on Engadine. Having spent two decades commanding the Twenty-second Skye along the Lyran Alliance's Periphery border, de Argall's reserved demeanor was completely changed by his brief stint as a prisoner of Clan Jade Falcon following the 3058 battle on Coventry.[1]

During the Free Skye Revolt, de Argall's Twenty-second Rangers were the first unit dispatched to claim the critical world of Hesperus II for Free Skye. Landing on Hesperus III on 15 June 3065, de Argall's forces planned to lie in wait until the rest of the Free Skye task force arrived in-system but a chance encounter with a doomed Hesperus militia patrol on 23 June forced de Argall to change course in order to deal with the now-wary Gray Death Legion. When the Fourth Skye Rangers arrived on 28 June, de Argall broke through the GDL's aerospace fighter screen and landed in the Melrose Valley, where his men baited a battalion of mercenaries into the open before battering them into retreat. The next few weeks were spent with both Free Skye and Lyran units jockeying for position, although the tide of battle shifted dramatically with the arrival of the Skye-aligned Thirty-second Lyran Guards and the death of a senior GDL officer in early July.[3]

Finally, on 18 July, the Free Skye units launched their main assault: the Fourth and Twenty-second Skye Rangers alongside the Thirty-second Lyran Guards would try to crush the defending Gray Death Legion remnants and the Fifteenth Lyran Guards. Unfortunately for de Argall, despite the Gray Death Legion's myriad misfortunes over the last few weeks of warfare, they still managed to destroy the Twenty-second Skye during the course of the battle.[3] By the end of the Revolt, de Argall retained command of the rebuilding Twenty-second Skye and was stationed on Skye itself by 3067.[4]
