Description

The Goth is an early Clan Medium Omnifighter developed from the Gotha by Clan Cloud Cobra. The design was very effective and remained in service until the late 2900's when a new generation of higher-speed OmniFighters rendered it obsolete. In the early 3150s the Wolf Empire returned it to production to bolster their weak aerospace forces. This was easy for the Wolves as Allied Technologies was producing the Gotha at the time.

In Clan space the Goth was used extensively by the Cloud Cobras for anti-DropShip operations. The design was also very popular and served with nearly every Clan.[1]

Weapons and Equipment

The Goth is a solid fighter with reasonably high speed for its weight class, being able push its frame to a maximum of 4 gs thrust with its fusion engine. The hull is protected by fourteen and a half tons of standard armor, giving it modest armor for a medium-weight fighter. The primary weakness of the design is heat. The Goth uses single heat sinks which can quickly be overwhelmed by the weapons. Fifteen sinks are permanently mounted in the frame, but nearly every configuration of the Goth adds more heat sinks.

The bulk of the Goth's Prime Configuration firepower comes from a pair of wing-mounted Artemis IV-guided 15-tubed Long-Range Missile Launchers with Small Pulse Lasers mounted coaxially. Supplementing the wing-mounted firepower is a Large Pulse Laser and pair of ER Medium Lasers in the nose. A pair of ER Medium Lasers are found mounted to the rear, guarding the fighter's vulnerable tail. Finally, four more heat sinks are pod-mounted in the frame.[4][3]

Alternate Configurations

  • Alt. Config. A
The A configuration is a close range fighter with two nose mounted Large Pulse Lasers, and an ER Medium Laser and pair of SRM 6 launchers added to each of the OmniFighter's wings. It also carries six additional pod mounted heat sinks for a total of 21. BV (2.0) = 1,898[3][5]
  • Alt. Config. B
Primarily an energy focused configuration the B's firepower is dramatically hotter running with its wing mounted pairing of ER Large Laser and Large Pulse Laser. Complimenting the Goth's sensors is an Active Probe fitted to its nose. Like the A configuration this version carries twenty one single heat sinks. BV (2.0) = 1,955[3]
  • Alt. Config. C
Apparently a Wolf Empire configuration which carries a pair of Rotary AC/5s in the nose, equipped with seven tons of ammunition. BV (2.0) = 2,062[3]
  • Alt. Config. D
Another Wolf Empire configuration, each wing carries an LRM-15 with an Artemis V FCS. The LRMs are fed from a three ton bay. Additional firepower comes from a nose-mounted ER PPC with a PPC Capacitor. Though it adds five more heat sinks, two Coolant Pods are available to handle heat spikes. BV (2.0) = 2,126[3]

Design Quirks

The Goth has the following Design Quirks:[3]
