Herman Schtiles was a Com Guard MechWarrior who rose to command of the Twelfth Division.[1][2][3]
History[edit]
Herman Schtiles would join the Com Guards at some point prior to 3052, serving in the First Army's Twelfth Division (Pure Waveforms) when they fought against Clan Ghost Bear during the Battle of Tukayyid. When the senior commanders of his Level III were killed, despite being a green Acolyte Schtiles quickly took command and led the survivors to ensure the success of the fiery ambush of the Seventh Bear Guards in Holth Forest. Despite his relative inexperience, Schtiles' command ability and intimate knowledge of the division's tactics led to rapid field promotion, leading to questions from observers and resulted in rumors that he was no mere Acolyte but in fact the so-called "Precentor Who Lost His Name", the disgraced former commander of the Twelfth Division, seeking redemption after receiving a new identity and undergoing personality modification and reeducation on Terra for unintentionally leaking Star League era technology to the Draconis Combine during Operation ROSEBUD.[4][5]
Whether these rumors were true or not, in the wake of the Battle of Tukayyid Herman Schtiles was promoted to command of the entire Twelfth Division, now nicknamed "The Grizzy Grinders" and headquartered on Pella II following its transfer to the Sixth Army, reaching the rank of Precentor I in 3055.[1] Schtiles retained command of the Twelfth following its redeployment to Mualang in the Draconis Combine after the Free Worlds League Military recaptured Pella II in 3057 during Operation GUERRERO.[2]
Held in reserve during Operation Bulldog, many questioned the rebuilt Twelfth's modern combat experience, but the efforts of the now Precentor VIII Schtiles and his unit to help integrate Clan Nova Cat in Combine society, through diplomatic efforts and a series of military exercises against the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery's Genyosha regiments and Nova Cat's Tau Chi Galaxies helped to earn the respect of all parties.[2] Immediately prior to Word of Blake Jihad, Herman Schtiles retained command of the Twelfth Division, having reached the rank of Precentor XIII.[3]
BattleMechs[edit]
Schtiles piloted a CRK-5003-1 Crockett during the fighting on Tukayyid, handling the assault 'Mech with grace and precision.[4]
Rules[edit]
As of the Battle of Tukayyid, Herman Schtiles had the Jumping Jack special pilot ability.[4]
