History

Founding and Late Star League Era

Formed in 2755, the brigade was formed by the Quartmaster of LCAF. This was a clerical accident, rename the ancient 9th Tamar Marines into what became the Hesperus Guards Brigade. The Guards would end up being formed by other older survivors of ancient brigades which had been in act service in come cases at fall of the Terran Alliance, the Freedom People’s Defense and Tamar Marine Regiments.

The Fourth Hesperus Guards was originally the last survivor unit that was formed from time of Outer Reaches Rebellion in the what would become the Commonwealth. The Fourth Guards were originally known as the Second Freedom People's Defense Regiment before its rebranding. It was last addition to help round out newly formed Brigade.

The Former Sixth and Ninth Tamar Marine Regiments were among the last of their brigade. The Ninth Tamar Marines were originally assigned to Hesperus II to protect mining operations on planet, would be initial victim of Quartmaster clerical error renaming them Ninth Hesperus Guards. Nineth's commanding officer, Colonel Stevensen Brickly, faced with moral problem due to renaming of the regiment. The unit's moral would remain sullen despite Colonel Brickly's attempt reach arrangement with Logistic arm of LCAF.

The Sixth Guards would be only unit of the new brigade take rebranding in stride. As the Sixth Tamar Marines, they would be first among their fellow Marine regiments to receive BattleMechs. The Sixth Hesperus Guards would continue its tradition acting as a training unit its cadre of recruits by mixing green recruits with season pilots, which helps maintain the regiment's status as veteran unit. The Sixth uses the perception of being a training unit to throw opponent off guard. With potential enemy units thinking they're a green unit of recruits instead of far more skilled season combatant force to be recognized with.

By 2765, the two of the three regiments of the brigade suffered from sever moral problem. This and questioning attitudes would leave the brigade at the bottom of the priority list for supplies from High Command. Donations from the Guard's original homeworlds would come in sporadically. In this time period it was felt that Hesperus Guards would end up as dumping ground for unwanted soldiers.[1]

Succession Wars Era

Like so many brigades during this era, the Hesperus Guards would be lost in fire of the Succession Wars.[2]

Dark Age Era

In 3137, an singular Combined Arms regiment of the Hesperus Guards was formed, the First Hesperus Guards, by Hesperus II ruler Duke Vedet Brewer. Duke Vedet intended the unit owe its loyalties to only him. The First Guards would lead the fight in Operation: Hammerfall which proved regiment's mettle.[3] The unit creation did not lead to reestablishment of the brigade but was rolled into the Commonwealth Guards Brigade instead.[4]
