Homai Lu was the commanding officer of the Eighth Galedon Regulars during the War of 3039.[1]

History[edit]

In late 3039, Tai-sa Lu received orders from Gunji-no-Kanrei Theodore Kurita ordering her unit to join the Sixth Benjamin Regulars' liberation of Marduk from the forces of Field Marshal James Sandoval. While Lu was subordinate to Sho-sho Shurin Goros of the Sixth Benjamin, her arrival in the Marduk system three days before Goros gave her temporary command of the conflict. When Goros arrived in-system on 4 August, she ignored the wide defensive perimeter established by Lu and instead dropped within thirty kilometers of the capital city of New Pontiac, leading to almost immediate fighting with Sandoval's forces. As the battle for New Pontiac developed into a bloody stalemate, tensions and differences in strategic thinking grew between the cautious Lu and the aggressive Soros, giving Sandoval's Tenth Deneb Light Cavalry ample opportunity to raid the Combine's positions. When Goros launched another offensive against New Pontiac on 23 September, the combined efforts of the Tenth DLC and the First Robinson Rangers turned the Regulars' deep push into a near-total rout.[1]

Lu and Goros' Regulars were bled by the unleashed Tenth DLC and Sandoval's aerospace fighters during their four-day retreat to Fort Stroum, before Goros' Sixth Benjamin spent another two days battling to buy Lu's Eighth Galedon time to fortify the city's defenses. Afterwards, even the arrival of the rest of Sandoval's troops on 2 October was not enough to crush the Regulars inside Fort Stroum, although Lu and Goros lacked the firepower necessary to break free—to say nothing of their ability to win the battle for Marduk. Sandoval would ultimately leave the planet to Goros and Lu's shattered command after receiving withdrawal orders on 6 October, although not before the Federated Suns' occupiers looted enough of Marduk's material wealth to cripple the planet's industry for the next year.[1]
