Description
The Jade Phoenix is an agile Assault OmniMech built by Clan Jade Falcon, with the intention to inspire future Falcon Warriors by harkening back to the Clan's past heroes. While it shares similar aesthetic features with the more recent Falcon designs, the Jade Phoenix relies on the nobility of the avian form to achieve this goal. Additionally, according to the design team, each Jade Phoenix chassis contains a single milligram grain of armor from Aidan Pryde's Timber Wolf. While the truth of this claim is unverified, it certainly does inspire pilots of the Jade Phoenix, as they believe they literally carry a piece of the Jade Phoenix into battle.[3]
Weapons and Equipment
The Jade Phoenix serves as a workhorse OmniMech within the Falcon touman. All configurations are fairly straightforward, with few surprises. This leads the Mech to be deployed in honest battles that rely on a Warrior's skills rather than shock tactics or deception. The fixed Partial Wing assembly and high speed give the Jade Phoenix unparalleled maneuverability, allowing the pilot to gain positions that are typically unreachable by assault Mechs.
The Primary Configuration is geared towards long-range combat, with two ER PPCs backed up by an HAG 30. Four Jump Jets grant the Primary Configuration its agility, while five additional Double Heat Sinks help to dissipate the tremendous waste heat of jump maneuvers and weapons fire.[2]
Alternate Configurations
- Alternate Configuration A
- A juggernaut designed to fight in the middle of the battle, the A configuration mounts a large pulse laser, medium pulse laser and small pulse laser in the left arm, while a mammoth Class-20 Ultra autocannon occupies the right arm. Four tons of ammunition supplies the autocannon, while six Improved Jump Jets allows the Jade Phoenix to reach close-combat ranges. BV (2.0) = 2,739[2]
- Alternate Configuration B
- A deadly skirmisher, the B-configuration carries two Gauss rifles in the arms that allow it to keep most enemies at bay. An improved heavy medium and improved heavy large laser supplement the Gauss rifles when ranges close. Four tons of ammunition keep the Gauss rifles well stocked, while four jump jets gives the pilot tactical options. BV (2.0) = 2,998[2]
- Alternate Configuration C
- The C-configuration is a mixed missile boat. Dual ATM 12s with six tons of ammunition offer flexibility, while two SRM 6s and two ER medium lasers add to the short range damage potential. Finally, a pair of talons give the C-configuration a deadly kick attack. The ubiquitous four jump jets are also present. BV (2.0) = 2,854[2]
- Alternate Configuration D
- The D-configuration is the only configuration to forgo jump jets. It operates as a more typical Clan assault Mech. A Gauss rifle and two ER PPCs are tied to a Targeting Computer. A single ER medium laser provides token backup firepower. BV (2.0) = 2,986[2]
- Alternate Configuration E
- The E-configuration is a Mixed-Tech configuration that is dedicated to close-in combat or anti-vehicular assignments. It mounts an LB 20-X autocannon with three tons of ammunition and a pair of Inner Sphere-made plasma rifles. This weapon configuration provides devastating anti-vehicle capabilities, with the LB-X autocannon's cluster munitions proving a threat to vehicular motive systems and the plasma rifles' ability to roast the crew. Ammunition is protected by CASE II, and a supercharger and jump jets supplement the Jade Phoenix's impressive maneuverability.
