Planetary History

Located in the Outback region of the Federated Suns' Crucis March, Jesup is a notable distance from other systems, its primary planet a small, dry planet colonised purely because of the discovery of sizable veins of tin and silver. Its entire population involved in the small but significant mining industry, the inhospitable planet is totally reliant on interstellar shipping for food to support its population, during the Third Succession War only one trading company - Black Ball Trading Company - was willing to make the journey to and from Jesup.[31]

Jesup Incident

In 3011 a huge vein of silver was discovered on the world of Perdido, Jesup's nearest neighbor and far more easily accessible on numerous trading routes. Acting purely out of business considerations, these factors led the Black Ball to cut its losses and stop servicing Jesup despite the fact they were the planet's lifeline. Ultimately thousands died before the Federated Suns government became aware of what would be later known as the Jesup Incident, the public directing their wrath against Black Ball Trading, forcing the company into bankruptcy. First Prince Ian Davion introduced the Jesup Trade Regulations in 3013 to prevent any serious modification of JumpShip trade and freight routes without government approval to avoid such incidents in future, while White Swan Trans-Stellar Inc. purchased the remains of Black Ball and renaming it Jesup Traders to ensure it honored and learned from terrible event.[32][33] [31]
