Kritsada Sirisopa was one of the Twenty-sixth Arcturan Guards' top officers and later one of the key leaders of the reborn Tamar Pact.

History[edit]

The son of a well-respected Nagelring literature professor and one of Tharkad's foremost poets, both his parents expected their son to parlay his mother's connections to enter the prestigious Lyran academy, make a brief career as an LCAF officer, and then focus on academic pursuits... but he didn't choose that path.[1]

Krit spent his early years near future officers he considered soft and entitled, which soured him on the future expected of him. When he reached eighteen, he enlisted in the LCAF, determined to earn his way. Krit rose steadily if not spectacularly through the ranks, buoyed by his positive attitude and a reputation for success. He was never a flashy MechWarrior, but he earned a battlefield commission for his heroism during the Battle of Tharkad when he organized two ad hoc lances to box in a Star of Wolves rampaging through Tharkad City and was assigned as lieutenant-colonel to the Twenty-sixth Arcturan Guards, where he found a kindred spirit in General Sarah Regis.[1]

On 20 June 3151, Sirisopa assisted at a meeting with Regis and her other officers, deciding whether to move the Twenty-sixth to Arcturus, as the Jade Falcons have abandoned it. The General wanted to go there, in what she named Operation RUBICON, of her own initiative. When the officers voted, Krit took a long time answering but his answer was affirmative, like all of the other officers.[2] Sirisopa supported his unit, and Regis' actions, even after she decided to de facto defect from the LCAF and recreate the Tamar Pact. After their declaration, it was Krit who suggested what to do with the unit's Lyran loyalists: let them leave freely.[3] Ironically, Sirisopa was one of those most affected by the defections; though the total number was limited, he lost two of his most valuable assistants, siblings Ronan Carlyle and Isobel Carlyle.[4]

After declaring the Pact's rebirth, Regis rechristened the three light combat teams of the Twenty-sixth as the First, Second, and Third Tamar Jaegers. Sirisopa became the leader of the First Tamar Jaegers, and in a meeting on 24 September, Regis sent the First to their first combat mission: to attack and take the planet Kerensky's Vision, and especially Camp Crichell, a Falcon training base, with orders to take as many Falcon cadets as possible as bondsmen.[5] Once at their destination, the Falcon leader, a Falconer named Derwin, answered Sirisopa's call. Krit insulted him deliberately, to make him reckless and imprudent. Both leaders agreed to fight a Trial of Possession for the planet.[6]

The Falcon Trinary was a pitiful sight; almost all their 'Mechs were described as "a step from the junkyard." Only Derwin's Marauder IIC was intact. Krit suspected Derwin had something in mind... and his suspicions proved true: the Falconer, a fanatical follower of the Mongol Doctrine, wanted to kill everybody, including the Jaegers, his cadets, and Camp Crichell's people, using two old Davy Crockett nukes.[7]

But Krit's quick thinking saved the day; the Jaegers gave ground, leading the Falcons, while sending a team of armored infantry to capture the nukes and jamming all frequencies. Even knowing his ruse had been discovered, Derwin pressed the attack, and the Jaegers engaged the cadets. Krit personally fought the Falcon leader, giving him several opportunities to surrender, but he refused, so Sirisopa had to shoot him, killing him instantly. Later he engaged a Hunchback IIC, blowing off both its legs. The BattleMech fell to the ground, the last Falcon to do so.[8]

After taking the base, Krit had an interview with the Hunchback pilot, an adolescent cadet named Rebecca of the Hazen Bloodhouse. She was very arrogant and hostile, but after subduing her when she attacked him, he told her about the Falcon atrocities; this information made her question her convictions.[9]

After the First Jaegers returned to Arcturus, Sirisopa took Rebecca as his bondswoman, and as such assisted a meeting of the Pact's high officers.[10]

Krit taught Rebecca silat pattani, a form of martial arts, knife throwing, and even some style of cooking.[11]

All Krit's training proved its worth on the 27th of April in 3152 when he and Rebecca assisted at a marriage at Arcturus ducal palace: a group of rogue Falcons infiltrated on the wedding grounds and attempted to assassinate the pact's leadership. But they meet unexpected opposition.[12]

When a fake server attempted to kill Sirisopa, Rebecca wounded him with a throwing knife. After he was killed by a soldier, she took the fake server's gun and handed it to Krit. Soon after, the group found another rogue Falcon who had wounded Arcturus' Duke, Sebastian Fyhne. Rebecca engaged the shooter, screeching a battle cry. That surprised the other Falcon as Rebecca killed him with her knives before tending the Duke, saving him.[13]

For her heroic actions, Krit cut Rebecca's bondcord the same day, freeing her and welcoming the girl to Tamar's army. She, deeply moved, requested to renounce her claim to the Bloodhouse Hazen, asking to be called Rebella Sirisopa. Krit agreed and embraced the young girl who was now effectively his adoptive daughter.[14]

As leader of the 1st Jaegers, Sirisopa heavily emphasized to heavily training new recruits before incorporating them to his force. That prevented any infiltration of Malthus Confederation agents on his frorce.[15]

Personality[edit]

Kritsada proved himself a very effective member of the officer corps he disdained so much. The troops respected his approachability, experience as an enlisted man, and unwillingness to waste their lives without good cause. Unfortunately, Krit's new rank also embittered him more toward his fellow officers' incompetence and passive attitude, so ineffectual to face threats to the Lyran people. As the leader of the First Tamar Jaegers, he was an invaluable asset in building the esprit de corps of the unit and preserving and expanding the Pact's limited resources.[1]

BattleMech[edit]

Kritsada Sirisopa's 'Mech was an assault-class Cygnus.[16]
