Loburg III

System Description

The Loburg system was located near the Ellijay and Bobruisk systems. The system had at least two populated planets, Loburg and Hiburg.[2][1]

System History

The Loburg system was colonized at some point during the Star League era.[3]

Political Affiliation

Planetary Info

Loburg is heavily settled, but most of its natural resources come from the second planet in the system. Named Hiburg, this planet is 50% larger than Loburg but possesses no atmosphere and crushing gravity. Despite this, workers spend several weeks there mining resources before transferring back to Loburg.[1]

Planetary History

Star League

During the final years of the Star League, Loburg was considered a strategic position to deal with hostilities between the Lyran Commonwealth and the Free Worlds League. This necessitated a garrison of Star League Defense Force troops as well as a detachment of WarShips from the Garrison Fleet (SLDF).[12]

Jihad

The StarCorp Industries facility on Loburg was fortunate enough to escape the Jihad intact, despite the widespread devastation inflicted on the Lyran Alliance's industrial base by the Word of Blake. With the StarCorps Industries facilities on Son Hoa having suffered serious damage, there was considerable discussion in early 3081 regarding proposals to relocate the surviving production onto Loburg, which was perceived as being better defended.[13]
