Planetary History

First Exodus

Loxley was founded by refugees of Scots-Irish descent, who had fled the war between the Stewart Confederacy and the Free Worlds League and founded colonies on the worlds of York and Lancaster in 2305, only to end up fleeing a second time in 2346 in the face of the looming threat of invasion from the Protectorate of Donegal. The refugees managed to stay undiscovered on Loxley until 2378, when the Lyran Commonwealth Archon Robert Marsden discovered that what he believed to be a small agricultural Lyran colony was infact a thriving independent community with a developed cottage-level industry. The colonists rebuffed Marsden's offer to join his forces, and as a result Marsden ordered that Loxley be occupied by force. The colonists fought back, but couldn't effectively fight against the much more advanced technology the Lyran troops had; the resulting conflict left just one in ten of the original population alive to flee from Loxley in a single ship, eventually founding the colony of Somerset.[3]

Star League

During the Star League era, Loxley was the site of major manufacturing facilities belonging to a significant defense company, Kong Interstellar. In 2765 the Fortieth Lyran Guards were the garrison charged with protecting the industrial facilities, but were somewhat unenthused by the responsibility, possibly because Kong Interstellar only produced supplies for the Star League Defense Force. A sizable Star League Defense Force garrison was also on-world.[34][35]

Late Succession Wars Era

In 3034 while garrisoning the planet, members of the Mercenary outfit Storm's Metal Thunder discovered a Star League era mech factory. In 3046 Griff Storm commander of the Merc unit with his business partner Sammuel Norse and substantial loans from the Lyran government brought the factory on-line creating Norse-Storm BattleMechs Inc.[36]
