History[edit]

Blackout[edit]

A native of Addicks, McPherson grew up in a tropical farming family, where he learned mathematical and mechanical skills. Following the Blackout, McPherson joined the Highlanders while they were on his homeworld, defending it from attack by the Dragon's Fury. Training as an artillery crewman in light of his preexisting skills, he served for several months in a mobile-artillery detachment, before being given his own artillery Combat vehicle to command. Despite his lack of experience, McPherson became one of the Highlanders best Artillery gunners, firing faster and more accurately than others.

His gunnery skill did however come at the cost of a narrower field of fire and slower movement of his vehicle, which led some to speculate his results may come from a sophisticated targeting computer, rather than natural talent.[1]

Second Battle of Addicks[edit]

McPherson helped to defend Addicks in April 3133, as part of a second Battle of Addicks, when it was attacked by the Spirit Cats under Liz Nostra. He became a minor legend within the Highlanders for his amazing marksmanship during this battle, though during the fighting for the city of Saint Randall, the danger to civilians meant even his fire support could not be relied upon.[2]

Vehicle[edit]

McPherson was known to have commanded a Thumper Artillery Vehicle, serial number FWB034-002/1L, nicknamed "Athena‘s Bow". This vehicle was an advanced technology version, built in the Free Worlds League for the Word of Blake, but diverted to the FWLM when the Word of Blake Jihad commenced. Following the Jihad, in 3081, this vehicle was part of the equipment donated by the FWLM upon the formation of the Republic of the Sphere.[1]
