Description

The Malice appears to be on its way towards becoming one of the premier mercenary assault 'Mechs of the age. Seen most often in the Galatean Defense League and the Republic Armed Forces, the Malice has seen a lot of action for such a recent addition to the battlefield. Very fast for an assault 'Mech, topping out around 64 km/h, this brute can bring a withering barrage of autocannon fire to bear. Protected by more than nineteen tons of standard armor, the Malice can remain in combat for a long time. In addition its twelve double heat sinks are able to dissipate most of the heat generated by its weapons, so it can maintain fire as long as the ammunition holds out. To make room for the armor, large engine, and weaponry, the Malice uses an Endo-Steel chassis.

Weapons and Equipment

The most popular Malice is equipped with four LB 5-X autocannons and four ER Medium Lasers. Four tons of ammunition are provided to the warrior, so they can mix and match ammunition types as needed. These weapons are excellent against vehicles, battle armor, and aerospace units, but lack the knockout punch of a heavier weapon. Despite this the Malice can inflict significant damage to enemy forces.

Variants

  • MAL-XP
This Malice version replaces the LB 5-X autocannons with Clan built models. The ER Medium Lasers are also upgraded to Clan specs. Two heat sinks are removed. The arm mounted autocannons are upgraded to Clan built LB 10-X autocannons. Each autocannon receives twenty rounds of ammunition. Armor, engine, and structure remain the same as the Malice-XT. BV (2.0) = 2,011[5][6]
  • MAL-XV
This Malice replaces the LB 5-X autocannons with Light AC/5s and eight tons of ammunition. The ER Medium Lasers are replaced with Improved Heavy Medium Lasers. The autocannon ammunition is protected by CASE II systems mounted in each side torso. A C3 slave unit is carried in the head, and seventeen double heat sinks control heat. BV (2.0) = 1,996[7][8]
  • MAL-YZ
This Malice variant uses the best technology available to both the Inner Sphere and the Clans. The top speed drops to 54 km/h, but an XXL engine is used to free up large amounts of weight. A Clan spec Endo Steel chassis is used to hold the engine, while a Compact Gyro frees up room in the center torso. Both the engine and gyro are Armored Components as are the hips. Improved protection is provided by Ferro-Lamellor armor, backed up by Modular Armor on the arms, legs, and front torso locations. The left and right torsos also use integrated CASE provided by Clan engineers. An Angel ECM Suite, Clan TAG system, and C3 Slave are available for electronic warfare support. The Malice-YZ carries two torso mounted Remote Sensor Dispensers as well. For additional protection against missiles, a Clan built Laser AMS is carried in each arm. Offensively, each arm carries a Clan built Large Pulse Laser and the left and right torsos each have a single Clan made ER Large Laser. Twelve double heat sinks work hard to manage the heat load but if they are overwhelmed there are two Coolant Pods available to the pilot to get a quick cooldown. BV (2.0) = 2,949[9][10]
