Marotta Kerensky was a trueborn MechWarrior of Clan Wolf during the mid-thirty-second century.

Personal History

Born as a trueborn of Clan Wolf, during the formation of Wolf Empire, Marotta fight in at least four battles, but only against the Lyran Commonwealth, distinguishing himself. Later he winned a Trial of Position obtaining the rank of Star Captain.[1] In planet Zosma he winned a Kerensky Bloodname in 3149, after a duel in a desert. Marotta easily defeated his opponent, a female warrior named Frenz, using her own agresiveness and the heat to overheat her 'Mech, a Timber Wolf. The Wolf Khan, Alaric Ward assisted to the Trial, and feel impressed by Marotta's cunning and calmness.[2] The next year, on New Earth, the Khan assigned a task to Marotta: to oversee the plan the imminent battle for Terra. Marotta didn't think the Wolves can take and hold Terra against the other Clans... specilaly the biggest threat: Clan Jade Falcon. Marotta had studied a lot about history, and his suggestion to obtain more troops, armed and trained, was unexpected, at least: convince the mercenary group of Wolf's Dragoons, ancient Wolf Clan descendants, to return with his Clan or at least fight alongide them.[3] Khan Ward not only accepted his proposal: also send him to recruit the Dragoons. During the trip, Marotta learned the art of diplomacy and negotiations with a Merchant Caste member named Byrne, learning much. When Marotta arrived to Parma, on Draconis Combine space, found a difficult situation. The Dragoons have been working loyally for the Kuritans, but the relations between both, almost always strained, were worsening, in part for the disdain the Kuritans feel for mercenaries. Marotta received a mixed reception: the Dragoons showed him a great respect as a Wolf representative, and Alaric's present (a full company of brand-new BattleMechs) accepted, but even his impressive negotiation skills weren't enough to made his invitation to the Dragoons broken the contract with the kuritans and join the battle of Terra accepted initially. The Dragoons leader, general Thomas Brubaker refused to decide initially, but the leader of Gamma Regiment, Colonel Nicholas Crews agreed immediately. Brubaker and him have a dispute, because several Crew's men have been arrested and put to the jail by the kuritans, and the general relieved him from his command.[4] But this only precipitated the things: Crews and his men decided to began a mutiny, to leave the planet and join the battle of Terra. Marotta accepted to help them, and even help lead the assault to the prision to liberate the Dragoons. These later took Marotta's 'Mechs and formed a new company, the Black Wolves Company. Marotta insisted to join the imminent civil war with Brubaker's people, and Crews gave him a temporary place inside the Black Wolves, effectively joining the Dragoons.[5] Marotta participated in the short but brutal battle against Brubaker's Dragoons, perfectly adopting the un-clanlike Dragoons style of fight. After Brubaker was defeated and captured, he used again his negotiation skills to avoid a bigger Dragoons fight, and brokered a deal with Brubaker. Soon later, Marotta assisted to the ceremony for the Dragoons deceased in the fight, before him, and all the Dragoons than can do it in time, departed to Terra.[6]

Personality

Like many Kerensky, Marota was an atypical Clan Warrior; first of all, he clearly has the Kerensky Vision, a patience most Clanners lacked. Also, he was very open minded, and don't distrust Freeborn or members of other castes, willingly accepting help or teaching from them when he needed, and accepts his limitations openly.[7] Also, he clearly like the history, and sometimes expressed himself as a poet. His patience and open mind made him a formidable opponent, as never appears to lose his calm, don,t leave insults or provocations affect him, and never rush blindly into a battle, willingly changing his fighting style to fit in his unit.[8]

BattleMechs

It is unknown what class of BattleMechs piloted regularly, but in his Trial of Bloodname piloted a heavily customized White Raven, and with the Dragoons, he take a brand new Dominator.[9]
