Description
The MechWarrior Pilot Deck: Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere I accessory was created by Catalyst Game Labs as a reward item available during their crowdfunding effort for the BattleTech: Clan Invasion [Kickstarter campaign] which ran from 18 July 2019 to August 18 2019. A number of decks described as premium MechWarrior Pilot Cards were announced as being in development, with the first two packs being unlocked when the $310,000 USD funding target was reached. Several more Pilot Decks were added to the campaign as add-ons, and a sixth deck was added after the campaign ended and distributed to backers for free to offset the campaign shipping costs.
As one of the later wave of premium Pilot Decks announced, Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere I was one of the two additional decks available for free to each person who pledged at the Star Colonel/$300 USD level during the campaign, or it could be purchased as an add-on for $15 USD.
Contents
This deck consists of 55 Pilot Cards detailing characters from a range of Mercenary Commands. One side of the each card has the standard Pilot Card entry; the other side depicts a character illustration commissioned for one of the Kickstarter backers. Each pilot's name, nickname and quote was also based on detail submitted by Kickstarter backers.
Notes
- Although MechWarrior Pilot Deck: Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere I was announced on the Kickstarter campaign page, it was one of the decks due to be shipped in the second wave of the Kickstarter fulfilment, while a previously-unannounced deck, MechWarrior Pilot Deck: Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere II, was issued to Kickstarter backers during the wave one fulfilment to help offset the shipping costs. This puts Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere I in the interesting position of being published and distributed after its successor deck.
