The Military Disaster Act was an order issued by Archon Elizabeth Steiner at the dawn of the Third Succession War. This order was one of the most sweeping directives issued in the history of the Lyran Commonwealth, effectively conscripting every Lyran into the LCAF, giving the Lyran government direct access to defense industries and shifting local militia away from worlds not in danger to the front lines.[1] Originally, the order required Lyrans to enter service at 19 and serve for three years, but Archon Eric Steiner made a controversial amendment in 2908. The draft age was lowered to 16, while tours of service were expanded to five years.[2] The fallout of the order would result in the formation of the Hanseatic League in the Deep Periphery from worlds settled by Lyran refugees.
