The Mobile Headquarter vehicles were first developed by Star League Defense Industries of Mars. These vehicles utilized for large scale planetary operations. Used compile data reported in by various means to coordinate its assigned force for their operation.

Since the destruction of Mobile HQ's manufacturing plant in 2767 during Amaris Coup, the vehicle numbers declined. The Succession Wars brutal fighting, the vehicle's equipment became irreplaceable. Also the vehicles were targeted by headhunting units for capture or destruction.

By time of the early 31st Century, the many of the Mobile HQ vehicles remaining service of the Great Houses were partially operation. Many of the vehicles remaining equipment replaced by more conventional means of tracking and coordinating forces. Some vehicles were gutted of their remaining functional equipment shifted to smaller command van.[1] Remaining Mobile HQs are still prized by militaries, with many mercenary commands moving capture them when opportunity arises. The Wolf's Dragoons when they first appeared in the Inner Sphere, were seen with five seemly brand new and fully operational Mobile HQs vehicles.

It is noted some these vehicles were restored when Star League technology became available again.[2]
