The Morgan's Holdfast system is the location of at least one inhabited world or construct and as of 3145, was located in the bandit kingdom known as the Tortuga Dominions.[1][2]

System Description

The Morgan's Holdfast system is located near the Fletcher's Feast and New Port Royal systems.[1][2]

System History

The Morgan's Holdfast system was one of five systems to be colonized between the early twenty-seventh century and the early twenty-eighth century. The capital world of the Tortuga Dominions, Tortuga Prime, was colonized by the remains of the 237th Light Cavalry Regiment in the closing stages of the Reunification War. The 237th being an Armed Forces of the Federated Suns regiment that took heavy damage in a wasteful military operation against Sterope, leading to the survivors deserting the Federated Suns. A generation after settling Tortuga Prime, the settlers embraced a new identity, the Pirates of Tortuga, and conducted pirate raids against the Federated Suns to seize equipment and machinery to expand their initial holdings; this worked well enough that within a century, the stable and self-sufficient colony on Tortuga was well-established enough to begin the colonization of other worlds, leading to the settlement of Morgan's Holdfast and four other worlds.[3]

Notes

Many of the names associated with the Tortuga Dominions appear to be drawn from real-life pirates and associated locations from history. Morgan's Holdfast is most likely named for the seventeenth century pirate and privateer Sir Henry Morgan.
