Planetary Info

Murchison is a habitable planet with a moon (Oasis) that also supports Terran life, and has three continents Abla, Harschweld and Felkra. When colonists arrived they found the atmosphere was slightly thicker than Terra's and the gravity slightly higher, but offsetting this was the vast amount of fertile land on the moon and Murchison proper. Oasis turned out to be well-suited to agriculture, while Murchison's vast prairies were perfect for cattle and other grazing animals. In addition civilian industries grew on Murchison, providing electronics, automotive, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals not only for Murchison and Oasis, but for several other nearby worlds.[1]

Unfortunately, the proximity of Oasis and it's friendly environment made it an excellent launch point for raids against Murchison. During the Succession Wars several such raids led to military forces being stationed on the moon to defend the world. The conflicts that resulted between the defending forces and the attackers inflicted serious damage on Oasis, and over time most of the settlers relocated to Murchison proper. As a result, Oasis has mostly been turned over to the military for their use.[1]

Planetary History

Republic of the Sphere

In August 3135 the mercenary unit known as the Ronin Group clashed with the Dragon's Fury on Murchison, in part to test a Jade Hawk BattleMech manufactured by the Dynamic Ordnance and Ammunition Corp - one of a number of tests conducted by mercenary units on behalf of the company.[46]
