Neil Campbell was the commanding officer of the Royal Black Watch as of 3060.[2]

History[edit]

Colonel Campbell was raised on tales of the Star League and was convinced that he had to live his life abiding by the League's ideals. As a teenager, he made a private vow to keep the League alive through his own actions, even if the rest of the Inner Sphere believed it was dead. After graduating from the Northwind Military Academy, Campbell was assigned to the First Kearny Highlanders and proved himself to be a competent MechWarrior and an excellent leader. This, combined with his trustworthiness, eventually lead to his command of the First Kearny's Third Battalion while he was simultaneously initiated into the secrets of the Black Watch. Campbell's skills and devotion to the Star League soon made him commander of the Black Watch and he happily took a demotion to captain in order to lead the company-sized force.[1]

After battling against the forces of Clan Smoke Jaguar on Huntress, Campbell presented himself to First Lord Theodore Kurita and accepted a promotion to colonel - signifying his intent to rebuild the Royal Black Watch to its traditional regimental strength. Campbell also sought First Lord Kurita's permission to take a year-long hiatus from command on 1 January 3062 in order to attend the Focht War College's Gunslinger Program.[1]

By 3067, Campbell had returned to active command of the Black Watch and was stationed on Orestes.[3]

BattleMechs[edit]

Then-Captain Neil Campbell piloted a Highlander BattleMech during the Black Watch's campaign on Huntress in 3060.[2]
