OGS Productions was a small holovid production company based in Solaris VII's Xolara region.[1][2]
Overview[edit]
Based in a Xolaran factory refitted into a holovid studio, and named for the first initials of its three founders—Oscar Drayton, Geraldine Fitz, and Simon Freely—OGS Productions got its start making commercials for local clients. After years of struggling, barely breaking even, OGS hit the jackpot when it created The Sterling Hawks holovid series. Proving wildly popular across the entire Federated Commonwealth, especially among teenage girls who idolised its formerly unknown young cast, the series secured the future of OGS and made its founders rich.[2]
The dramatic change in OGS Production's fortunes had a dark side however, resulting in increasing attention from local organized crime figures seeking a slice of OGS's royalties. In the winter of 3054, Oscar Drayton was wounded in a drive-by shooting by a low-ranked assassin reportedly with yakuza ties, followed by near constant harassment of the company - sabotage of OGS' sets and anonymous threats against the cast. OGS Productions paid these threats little mind, with production continuing on The Sterling Hawks and continuing to make more money than ever before, as well as developing The Scarlet Bands which would prove to be equally as popular.[2]
By the conclusion of the FedCom Civil War OGS Productions had been acquired by the Solaris Broadcasting Corporation, an effort by SBC's president Donald Torrent to expand the company into the mainstream market, with OGS' hit series noted for offering viewers a dramatic new look at the boom and bust of Solaris VII's minor stables.[1] As with many of the corporations and companies of Solaris, OGS Productions suffered heavily during Operation SHOWTIME, the Word of Blake's occupation of the Game World during the Jihad. A review of the financial position of Solaris corporations and stablea in 3072 secured by Hachiman Taro Electronics indicated that OGS Productions had suffered losses of 87% and at that stage was currently closed.[3]
Notable OGS Productions Shows[edit]
- The Sterling Hawks - hit holovid series that followed the fortunes of an up-and-coming stable on Solaris VII, featured frequent cameos from famous real life Solaris MechWarriors. As of 3055, it was the third most popular holovid series in the entire Federated Commonwealth. [2]
- The Scarlet Bands - OGS' second hit series was basically a female version of The Sterling Hawks, following the exploits of an all-female stable of MechWarriors.[2]
