Overview

Operation MANDRAGORA Was a planned operation by the Federated Suns against the Draconis Combine. The operation was cancelled however when a Combine taskforce ambushed the Federated Suns forces at their staging ground on the world of Palmyra.[1]

Prelude

The Federated Suns commands involved in the debacle where originally part of the taskforce assigned to Operation SUNSHOWER, the invasion of the Capellan Confederation. His objective was to attack the Combine capital district of New Samarkand, expecting to drew the kuritan (who had invaded the Suns space) back. [1]

Battle

The Federated Suns forces were surprised by an attack of Draconis Combine forces, the Palmyra Disaster. By early July most of the planet had been captured with only isolated elements of the Federated Suns forces offering resistance.[2]

Aftermath

The ambush resulted in the loss of over twenty percent of the total armed forces of the AFFS, and the First Prince Caleb Davion.[1]
