Major General Orestes McNamara was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 205th Mechanized Infantry Division as of 2764.[1]

Following an incident involving the 236th Mechanized Infantry Division on Arcadia, when Major Jessup Schmidt went on a killing spree on the world, Major General McNamara's Division was rotated in to try to calm the situation.
While an experienced military commander, McNamara was a novice politically, and found it difficult negotiate the turbulent Lyran Commonwealth society he had been dropped into. His position was helped by the lack of outside military threats in his area of operations, but the civilian protests and local infighting kept his hands full.[1]
