Oystein Tannerbaum was an officer in the KungsArmé.[1]
History
He was born on New Oslo, the son of one of the executives from Gorton, Kingsley, and Thorpe Enterprises who enjoyed a live of luxury during his youth, and who was sent to military school by his father to avoind him turning to be a spoiled brat.
Taking military training seriously, he applied and was accepted for MechWarrior training at the Radstadt Academy, receiving additional training in conventional armor and officer training. At twenty-two he was a Löjtnant assigned to the Second Drakøns.
In 3050 he found himself fighting Clan Wolf in New Caledonia, where he saw half of his unit die, and then in the defense of Rasalhague, where we was wounded and had to be evacuated. Left with heavy scarring on his right hand that included nerve and muscle damage but did not incapacitate him for piloting a 'Mech, the lost of his unit and of his home-world, coupled with the loss of his parents who were not among the refugges, left him with a deep hatred of the Clans.
He was able to get a post in the 4th Drakøns, thoug he was passed twice for promotion by Överste Carl Sleipness himself for his personal vendetta against the Clans.
He joined his unit with the Second Star League was formed and created Task Force SERPENT and fought with near suicidal tactics on Huntress. When his unit was deemed too heavily damaged to continue and disbanded, he was sent to serve as part of Sir Paul Masters' garrison force in Lootera as a reward.[1]
He was able to gain a post as part of the Inner Sphere delegation to Strana Mechty, and when he met in 3062 the commanding officer of the Katyusha Keshik, Star Colonel Bispham, the two of them hatched a plot with Dark Caste Varsus to strike a blow into Strana Mechty and inflame the tensions to restart the war between the Clans and the Inner Sphere just one year after the Great Refusal. The conjure failed prior to setting a bomb against the Master Genetic Repository. Star Colonel Bispham was stopped by a group of clan members and detained by the Ebon Keshik, though Oystein Tannerbaum and Varsus escaped.[2]
After the bombing's failure, he and Varsus will strike a deal that would allow Tannerbaum to be smuggled back to the Inner Sphere and try to vanish there, while Varsus would have new opportunities for wealth and power and the two would take a small force of bandit ships to the Inner Sphere in a six month journey.[3]
