Pandora Cavaliers

Template:InfoBoxStateUnit The unit that would evolve into the Pandora Cavaliers was originally the Pandora College Training Battalion.

History

Although there is no hard data on the unit's formation, the Pandora College Training Battalion already existed as of 3040.[1]

Clan Invasion

In 3054 the Quickscell Company plant on Pandora was guarded by the Pandora College Training Battalion.[2]

FedCom Civil War

During the FedCom Civil War, after the 3rd Lyran Guards were transferred to defend other worlds closer to the Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone, Clan Jade Falcon struck Pandora in 3064. The Pandora College Training Battalion and a few militia regiments were the only Lyran Alliance forces on-world. While fighting valiantly, the Training Battalion and militia forces lasted three weeks before the planet was captured by the Falcons' 124th Striker and Jade Falcon Eyrie Clusters.[3] The training battalion was destroyed.[4]

Jihad

When the Jade Falcons joined the Coalition against the Word of Blake Jihad, they returned the last survivors of the Pandora College Training Battalion to the LAAF as a peace offering. These warriors had become quite skilled, but the Falcons found them too independent to work within their touman. While the ten MechWarriors were quickly matriculated elsewhere, the LAAF maintained the rest of the Battalion as a overflow cadre for other academies.

In 3079 the battalion was based on Crimond.[5]

Republic Era - Pandora Cavaliers

Lacking an associated academy to call it home after the Jihad's conclusion, the Pandora College Training Battalion was assigned to the newly-formed Lyran Reserves brigade along with other orphaned Lyran commands. Inspired by the rebirth of the Tamar Cavaliers, brigade commander Hauptmann-General Daniel Bishop chose to remake the Training Battalion as a line unit, the Pandora Cavaliers.

Due to its former role as a training cadre and the large number of still green academy recruits in its TOE, the LCAF utilized the Cavaliers as an extended training force, running cadets through it before transfer to other units. While any other unit might resent this treatment, seeing it as a continuation of its past the Cavaliers consider it an honor and heavily embrace their "foster soldiers".

As of 3085, the Cavaliers were stationed on Kandersteg in the Arc-Royal Theater.[6][7]

Dark Age Era

Like the Tamar Cavaliers, the Pandora Cavaliers were reportedly destroyed in a series of tit-for-tat raids on the Clan border early in the 32nd century, implicitly prior to 3133.[8]
