Porthos Houan was the commanding officer of the Fifty-third BattleMech Cluster of Clan Hell's Horses as of 3050.[1]

Star Colonel Porthos Houan, serving with the Fifty-third BattleMech Cluster, was stationed on Hoard during the Hellion's Fury attacks following the commencement of Operation REVIVAL.[1] Due to the Fifty-third's status as a training unit, Clan Ice Hellion chose to attack them specifically out of the belief that they presented little threat. Combat dropping into the Circle of Equals around Mining Complex HH-Epsilon-12 on 26 May 3050, the Hellions belatedly realized that the Horses' apparent retreat was actually a preplanned response to just such an attack. When the Horses regrouped and began challenging the Hellions to single combat, the surprised Hellions fell one by one until they were forced to withdraw from the planet.[2]
Porthos Houan still held command of the Fifty-third BattleMech on Niles by 3061, although he was transferred to command the newly-formed Fifty-seventh BattleMech Cluster by 3067.[3][4]
