History[edit]

Fought in the Refusal War and on Coventry.

As of 3059, Rho Galaxy defended the anti-spinward section of the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone, including Black Earth, Derf, and Devin. The effects of the Refusal War and the Wolf "liberation" of large swaths of the region gave insurgents their chance at rebellion, further agitated by Lyran forces. The Galaxy was still rebuilding from the Battle of Coventry, with only one fully operational Cluster, though was designated to return to front-line duty, replacing the disgraced Vau Galaxy in the Jade Falcon touman.[1]

The front-line designation for the Galaxy was not realized, though, and Rho was used as a blooding Galaxy, similar to Omega Galaxy, throughout the 3064 Incursion. The process did not affect the Galaxy's offensive capabilities, as evidenced by the destruction of the mercenary Barber's Marauder IIs and strikes into Wolf-held territory. In 3067, the Galaxy was assigned to Cusset, Rasalgethi, with the 12th Falcon Regulars split between Biota and Bessarabia, and the Eyrie Cluster assigned the jointly-Lyran held "live-fire training" world of Blair Atholl.[2]

In June 3069 elements of Rho faced the 1st Kell Hounds on Graceland. The Falcons killed Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Allard in this engagement.[3]

The Dark Age[edit]

By the ending of the Rending, Rho was one of the older second line Galaxies within the Jade Falcon touman and one that Khan Malvina Hazen felt could be trusted with reasonably important goals. As a result Rho was called on to launch themselves into the remains of the Clan Wolf Occupation Zone, just as Epsilon Galaxy was doing; Epsilon struck rimward, while Rho was order to launch themselves spinward.[4]

It took time for Rho to begin moving, but when the Galaxy did move, it was to swiftly occupy the worlds of Laurent and Vulcan, providing a bridgehead to strike at the former Wolf capital world of Tamar. Their conquests were far from unchallenged, however; elements of Clan Hell's Horses Delta Galaxy landed on both worlds, intent on acquiring them for their clan.[4]

The successful use of what had become known as Mongol formations during the Rending gave Rho confidence that they had little to fear from the Hell's Horses forces, and the two occupying units - the Twelfth and Eighteenth Falcon Regulars - deployed in Mongol formations accordingly.[4] Delta Galaxy landed the Fourth Horde on Laurent and the Eighty-second Mechanized Cavalry on Vulcan;[5] unfortunately for both Jade Falcon formations, they were swiftly outperformed by the Hell's Horses light formations,[4] which were better equipped than the Falcons and overwhelmed their opponents.[5] This left the heavier elements of the Jade Falcon forces unprotected and blind, forcing them to retreat.[4]

As a consequence of their poor showing in the face of Delta Galaxy, Rho was left out of Khan Hazen's invasion of the Lyran Commonwealth, relegated instead to the defense of Sudeten in preparation for any sign of the Hell's Horses withdrawing from their alliance with the Falcons.[4]
