Richard Amaris was ruler of the Rim Worlds Republic in the early twenty-seventh century.
The son of Gregory Amaris, Richard was among the few members of the Amaris family to survive the 2599 coup by Admiral Hakim Wbika. Although he expected to be killed, instead Richard was selected as the figurehead of Wbika's junta, styled as President rather than his father's title of First Consul.
Richard had no intention of being a puppet but obeyed the junta while he determined the weaknesses of their members. Through careful subversion of palace guards and inflicting calculated hindrances upon the junta, Richard engineered a quarrel between Wbika and his aide General Macao. In 2604 he successfully purged the palace, eliminating all but one of the junta. Richard personally executed Macao and Wbika.
Richard died of a brain fever in 2619.
