Description[edit]

The Rime Otter is a medium OmniMech built originally by the Rasalhague Dominion for its Clan Ghost Bear and native Warriors. Constructed on the heavy end of the medium weight class of OmniMechs, the design was intended to support other specialty designs in the field. The 'Mech's builders, Jötunn BattleWorx, used past experience building the classic Grizzly to build the OmniMech.[1]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

Designed to be a fairly swift machine, the Rime Otter built with RUFM XL 275 extralight engine, with the addition of MASC. This setup allows the Rime Otter to reach 86.4 km/h, pushed to 108 km/h once the MASC has been activated, and gives the 'Mech the mobility to keep up with lighter designs, but still provide cover for the Dominion's heavier designs.[3]

Intended as a frontline combatant, the chassis has been allotted 18.5 tons of pod space for weapons and equipment. Designed to be a brawler, the Rime Otter's Prime configuration features pair of arm mounted large pulse lasers for intermediate and short ranges, while an advanced Artemis V-guided LRM-10 launcher is housed in right torso with 10 volleys of ammunition. This configuration has an additional double heat sink and has been given protection from ammunition explosion with CASE II.[3]

Alternate Configurations[edit]

  • Alternate Configuration A
A highly mobile skirmisher by design with four jump jets, the A's primary weapon is its right arm mounted LRM-15 with Artemis V fire control, supplied with 16 volleys worth of ammo. Its long range firepower is further enhanced by left arm mounted ER large laser, while close-range combat reinforced by addition of Streak SRM-6 launcher a single ton ammunition also in left arm. BV (2.0) = 2,358[3]
  • Alternate Configuration B
Intended as a speedy intermediate and close range combatant, this skirmisher's weapons are geared towards anti-infantry and vehicle combat. A pair of improved heavy medium lasers in the right arm serve as the primary weapons for armored targets, while two machine gun arrays, comprising of four light machine guns each, is mounted in each of the side torsos, provide devastating anti-infantry firepower. An LB 10-X autocannon found in the left arm, rounding up configuration's abilities. A single ton of CASE II-protected light machine ammunition is housed in in the right torso, while the LB-X's two tons of ammo is fitted in the left arm with the autocannon. BV (2.0) = 1,969[3]
  • Alternate Configuration C
Another close range combatant, the C configuration has six ER medium lasers in the right arm, while the left arm carries a four ton hatchet for warriors who prefer to get physical in combat. To allow this skirmisher to close in on its intended target, the configuration has four jump jets and also mounts a supercharger in addition to its fixed MASC. Five additional double heat sinks are fitted help the MechWarrior cope with additional heat load of the OmniMech's features. BV (2.0) = 2,718[3]
  • Alternate Configuration D
A scout and spotter by design, the D configuration uses its improved jump jets to reach and mark targets. To accomplish this, it has a light active probe and light TAG in the center and right arm, respectively. The design's missile weaponry is all found in the 'Mech's right arm, and comes in the form a NARC launcher with two tons of pods, and an SRM-6 with one ton of ammo. Not totally reliant on missiles, the D has three ER medium lasers in its right arm. BV (2.0) = 1,998[3]
