The Senatorial Alliance or Senate Alliance was founded in 3135, in the wake of the Republic of the Sphere's senators' rebellion on Terra. It was a small interstellar alliance located in the former Prefecture VI until September 3142, when it joined the Free Worlds League and was renamed the Augustine Alliance.

History
Rebellion
In April of 3135, Republic of the Sphere Exarch Levin proclaimed the Republic Senate abolished after it was discovered that they were trying to usurp the government by controlling various people in military and including the knights. The Senate's plan was discovered by Paladin Victor Steiner-Davion, who was later assassinated for it.[4]
Initially the group was referred to as Loyalists. They held various parts of Terra, including some parts of Europe including entire nation-state of Germany, as well as parts of North and South America. As rebellion spread, more worlds joined the Senator's cause.
Their military campaigns was led by former Knight and later Senator Conner Rhys-Monroe, who masterminded the military campaigns on Terra. The Senate Alliance forces attempting to capture Paris, France and Leaders of the Inner Sphere who had gathered for Victor Steiner-Davion's funeral in June, 3135 as a last attempt to regain control of the situation and end the "Civil War."
However the First Davion Guards, X Principes Guards, and X Triarii Protectors successfully defended Paris and forced the Senatorial Alliance troops to withdraw.[5]
After being forced off Terra, the various senators returned to their worlds and prepared to fight the Republic. Conner Rhys-Monroe conceived the plan to take certain key worlds and formally create the Senatorial Alliance. He led a campaign from Markab to secure various worlds on his end to link the planets to worlds in Prefecture IV. He led a key battle on the world of Ronel for its functional HPG Station. He was defeated again by a Republic Coalition led by Julian Davion. Conner and his Senate forces surrendered and withdrew from Ronel back to Markab. At the same time, Liberty, the bridging world that linked Markab's side of Republic to Prefecture IV's worlds, was taken by Countess Tara Campbell. This effectively severed the alliance in half.[6]
Independence
After the walls of the Fortress Republic came up in October of 3135, the Alliance consolidated its borders, including Park Place.
To strengthen the Alliance military (dubbed the Alliance Patriots), a plan was hatched to take the independent world of Irian and its 'Mech factories for the Alliance. In July, 3136, a company of BattleMechs were shipped secretly into the warehouse of the massive factory's DropPort. When activated by an inside spy, the Senate Alliance forces attempted to take control of the facilities to secure the production runs. However, Irian planetary officials hired the newly formed mercenary battalion, the Wolf Hunters, who then attacked the raiders and destroyed them before they could take any of the cargo of newly built BattleMechs.
In retaliation to the attack on Irian, the Oriente Protectorate sent the Eagle's Talons, their elite military force, and annexed Park Place to Oriente.[7]
The Augustine Alliance
In September 3142, with the Alliance Patriots reduced to barely a battalion, the proto-nation joined the Free Worlds League as a member province, renaming itself the Augustine Alliance. One condition of the merger was that remaining Patriots be allowed to join the Sixth Free Worlds Guards and that this unit would be posted in defence of the nation-turned-province.[1][3][8]
On 8 January 3149, unknown forces executed simultaneous landings on the Alliance worlds of Talitha, Van Diemen IV and Wasat . When planetary militia or FWLM forces arrived on scene to investigate, the mysterious forces refrained from opening fire for several hours until orders arrived from the Augustine Military District calling their units back, explaining that these troops were present as 'insurance'. It was later revealed that these forces had been sent by Devlin Stone as part of Operation SHOFAR, an effort to create a buffer space in preparation for the lowering of the Fortress Republic's Wall by convincing, bribing, or threatening various ex-Republic worlds back into the fold.[9][10]
IlClan Era
In 3150, the LCCC redeployed the Covenant Guards and Fourteenth Atrean Dragoons from Alliance space to other regions. In July of 3151, news of Alaric Ward's victory on Terra and the creation of the ilClan reached the Free Worlds League. In response to the rapidly changing situation on the border with the Wolf Empire, the League withdrew the 6th Free Worlds Guards as well, leaving the Alliance without any regular forces to defend it. Decrying the seeming abandonment of the Alliance, members of the provincial government such as retired Senator Michael Riktofven sponsored the creation of a new regiment to defend the Alliance, the 1st Augustine Arquebusiers. This touched off a minor political crisis in the League, and although addressing the status of the Arquebusiers was deemed a low priority at the moment, the question of whether the existence of a unit that answered to a province rather than the Captain-General is legal remains unresolved.[3]
Notes
The Alliance had multiple names: Loyalists, Alliance of Senators, and Senate Alliance. The Senatorial Alliance name was being used by outside powers in 3138 during the events of the novel To Ride the Chimera.
