The Jihad

Spica was one of ten worlds assaulted by the CCAF during the third week of March 3069, a wave of attacks that formed a part of Operation THUNDERSTRIKE, the Capellan counteroffensive against the Capellan March in defiance of Duke George Hasek's campaign Operation SOVEREIGN JUSTICE.[45] Word of Blake forces from the nearby world of Kittery conquered Spica in the first week of November 3069.[34]

In March 3069 the mercenary unit known as the Federated Freemen were attempting to rebuild on Spica following heavy damage taken during SOVEREIGN JUSTICE when the Capellan First Janissary Brigade assaulted Spica. Colonel Xavier Pelt of the Freemen tried several feints to disrupt the Janissary Brigade, to no avail; with complete aerial supremacy, the Janissaries continually ground the Freemen down while launching devastating low-level attacks with VTOLs and Mechbusters. Colonel Pelt was killed on the 30th of April, at which point the surviving elements of the Freemen - some two mixed companies of combat vehicles and BattleMechs - negotiated a peaceful withdrawal, leaving hundreds of tons of 'Mech salvage behind.[33]

In 3069, elements of the 41st Shadow Division augmented by elements of the 13th Division captured Spica, both masquerading as elements of the "House Liao" offensive. The Avatars raides a Protectorate Militia in planet and then retreated to Kittery.[46]

In 3071 AMC affiliated units (the Wild Geese and the 13th Stalking Horse) were battered while attacking Spica by the Protectorate Militia Unit.[47]

The Dark Age

Spica was garrisoned by the Eighth Avalon Hussars LCT in 3104 when an attack was launched against the Hussars by the Third McCarron's Armored Cavalry. Knowing that they couldn't win a direct engagement with the Third, the Hussars instead planned and executed an ambush on the Third that saw the Eighth's 'Mechs used as bait. Commanded directly by General Stasi Ivanova, the Eighth's Mechs led the Third into a valley while the Hussars' hovertanks harassed the Armored Cavalry. When the Third's vanguard entered the valley it came under sustained fire from a company of Destrier Seige Vehicles assigned to the Hussars and was swiftly destroyed; the Hussars then counterattacked while the Ballista trailers attached to the Destriers launched missile artillery at the Third, and the Third was driven offworld.[40]

Notes

It was confirmed by the Line Developers that the maps used in many of the Handbooks are in error or are misleading, and that Spica was a contested world between 3025-3029, and has been a Federated Suns possession since.

Spica is disputed in 3025-3029. It's Feddie since, it's just the maps are misleading.

The "CC" units on Spica in FM:U are all traitors terrorists being funded by the Haseks, as Free Capella.
