Description

The Spirit Walker is one of the products of Clan Coyote's Pueblo Initiative of the mid 29th Century. Although the Coyotes fought to control their OmniMech technology for a decade, they could not retain exclusive control of it forever. After Clan Jade Falcon finally won a Trial of Possession for OmniMech technology, it rapid spread to other Clans. In response, the Coyotes began the Pueblo Initiative to rapidly increase the number of OmniMechs in their touman.[1]

It took the Coyote Scientist Caste two years to modify existing Star League 'Mechs to accept OmniPods. One of these designs was the venerable Black Knight, which was modified into the Spirit Walker.[1]

The Spirit Walker was sent primarily to Coyote Clusters that had received few other OmniMechs. Another easy to produce design, other Clans began to stage Trials to obtain Spirit Walkers. Some Clans were not interested in the design, like the Wolves, who preferred their Woodsman. The Coyote scientists expected the Spirit Walker to face opponents observing zellbrigen, so they concentrated armor on the front. During the battle against Kindraa Smythe-Jewel on Foster, the Spirit Walker's all energy-configuration, assisted by the Active Probe inherited from the Black Knight, was initially very effective against the Smythe-Jewel forces who were running low on ammunition. However, as the fighting on Foster became more chaotic, Smythe-Jewel hit-and-fade attacks easily breached the thin rear armor of many Spirit Walkers.[1]

Weapons and Equipment

In its Primary configuration the Spirit Walker sports an all-laser armament consisting of four ER large lasers, four Medium pulse lasers, one ER small laser, and an Active Probe.[3]

Notes

The Spirit Walker write-up in Turning Points: Foster states that it has "CI Ferro" armor.[1] However, the record sheets for the Spirit Walker Prime and A Configurations do not have any critical slots allocated to ferro-fibrous armor[3][4] Additionally if the Spirit Walker was equipped with ferro-fibrous armor instead of standard armor, it would be 1.5 tons underweight.
