'Stas was a Clan Wolf MechWarrior and technician, and leader of the Retribution Wraiths.

Physical description

Stas was in 3075 about sixty years old and described as having steel gray hair. It was said he looked a lot like Aleksandr Kerensky, his ancestor.

History

Stas was a trueborn from Clan Wolf of Nicholas Kerensky Bloodline.

He was a ristar with a promising future, until, about 3045, prior to Operation Revival, when he was taken as a bondsman by Clan Smoke Jaguar. [1]

The Jaguars never let him regain his warrior status, keeping him as a technician. After the Jaguars' annihilation, he joined the Free Guilds. During the first stages of the Wars of Reaving, he lost most of his guild, friends and mate in an Orbital Bombardment. He began working with other Free Guilds while he was not drunk, feeling a deep hate towards the Great Council and dreaming in a glorious death and revenge against them. His opportunity arrived the 9 April 3075, when an Elemental named Yama joined in a bar and offered him revenge. He accepted.

After arriving to Yama's base, uncovered than was, in fact, Garmen Kerensky, a Clan Wolf operative, with a secret mission: to board the McKenna's Pride WarShip and steal Aleksandr Kerensky's body. As part of Operation DAMOCLES II, he needed a suicide team, and Stas recruited a multi-clan team: a Trinary later known as Retribution Wraiths. For months, the Wraith repaired their 'Mechs and trained intensively for their first and last combat mission. Only Stas and their three Wolf friends knew the real objective, but don't shared that with the rest. These, obsessed with revenge against the Great Council and searching a Warrior's death, didn't care.

Finally, the 5 April 3076, the Wraith attacked. After walking to the outskirts of Katyusha City, traveled to the center of it walking under Andery River. They emerged in the center of the city, undetected. The Wraith's operation, codenamed Pilum, was part of Garmen's Spatha II. Their objectives were to attack and destroy the comms systems of the Space Control Center, HPG station, and Ebon Keshik and Katyusha Keshik's headquarters, destroy all the defenders units possible and sow all the confusion they can until the death, to allow Garmen to launch their mission. They were assisted by Dark Caste observers, these also blew the three major bridges across the river, Operation Archer.[2]

The Wraiths attacked and easily destroyed a Star of 'Mechs of the Katyusha Keshik easily, and later, the other two stars of its Trinary. Stas destroyed an Hellfire, a Conjurer, and later, the Wraiths destroyed all the comms systems. After that, the Wraiths reunited themselves for the last stand near the Ebon Keshik headquarters. They managed to destroy about more than another Trinary of 'Mechs and Elementals. Stas downed a Timber Wolf, but the Wraiths already have been reduced to only seven heavily 'Mechs, included his.

Death

The ilKhan Hannibal Banacek lead a massive Adders and Katyusha Keshik's assault. He contacted Stas and ordered him to surrender; Stas simply laugh of his offer, and told him his opinion of the Great Council. The Adders attacked again, and the last Wraiths fight as their namesakes, falling one after another. Stas was the last survivor, and managed to down a Night Gyr, but after that, all the Adders turned their weapons against him and killed him.[3]

Legacy

Ironically, Stas sacrifice helped his former Clan steal the last Kerensky legacy in Clan Space, but also left one behind: his body. It was recovered by Clan Cloud Cobra personnel, and it must be in good shape, because the ilKhan decided to use his great resemblance to Aleksandr Kerensky to transform his corpse on him: after altering his physical appearance, ordered an search expedition to go to the space, and recover his body, presenting it as if it was Aleksandr's body, to keep the symbol the Great Council needs to unite all Clans. Stas body was later to be buried in a tomb adjacent to the Hall of Khans, under a multi-ton of granite, but visible by the sides.[4]

BattleMechs

Stas' only known 'Mech was a Highlander IIC.

Notes

It remains unknown if Stas body was used by the Home Clans to produce sibkos of Kerensky blood, as he was the only possible source of them.
