Stephen Tyler was the Khan of Clan Ice Hellion before the events leading up to Operation Revival. He would become the architect of the Hellion's Fury Campaign.

History

Little is known about Khan Stephen Tyler before his ascension to Khanship. Stephen would be elected as a Khan of Clan Ice Hellion to unify his clan during their strife.[1]

The Hellion's Fury

When the Clans were planning to invade the Inner Sphere, Khan Stephen Tyler would participate in the Trials to see which clan would invade the Inner Sphere. When the dust settled, only four clans would be chosen, with Clan Ice Hellion being eliminated along with the other clans. The Ice Hellion's failure to earn a place in the Inner Sphere would cause more anger within their clan. Sensing a way to control anger and unify the clan, Khan Tyler would create the Hellion's Fury campaign. The Hellion's Fury campaign would be directed at the other clans who were also eliminated during the trials for the invasion. This attack would not only net the Ice Hellion's considerable gains, but it would allow them to vent their frustrations on the other clans.[2]

Death

During the Hellion’s Fury Campaign, Khan Stephen Tyler was killed in battle from a pirate raid in 3048. This left the clan to select a ristar under the name, Asa Taney, As Khan.[3]

Legacy

Although Khan Tyler's campaign was a huge success in uniting his clan, his actions would taint their reputation for years to come. The Ice Hellion Clan's Fury campaign would later become known as the "Hellion's Tantrum" outside the clan. Most clans would personify the Ice Hellions as a petty immature clan that no clan should (or would) not take seriously. As a result, no clan would want to cooperate with them. This reputation would even pass to his successor Asa Taney, as he tried to gather allies for his own coalition[4]. This effect would also trickle down to various Hellion Khans. Although Stephen Tyler did not know it, his actions would forever doom the fate of his clan.
