Although Captain Huebst was born in the Draconis Combine, he had always been indifferent to the hatred both his homeland and the Panzer Brigade had for House Davion. Huebst's primary reason for joining the Brigade was his desire for fame and lasting notoriety, as he believed the unit's brutality and "moral flexibility" were a more direct route to celebrity than the Combine's staid warrior ethos. Even though the Brigade's luck had spiraled downward, Huebst refused to desert, holding out hope that glory still awaited at the journey's end.[1]
