Sung's Rangers

Formation

Originally called the Sung's Cuirassiers on their homeworld Detroit , the regiment has the distinction being one few Liao Regiments to be destroyed and rebuilt stronger than it was originally.

History

In 2668 the unit was send on raid against House Marik world of Xanthe III, which was suppose to be lightly defended repair depot. However, due to intelligence failure of the Maskirovka agents in field, the Curiassiers encountered elements of the Marik Protectorate Guard. The unit dropzones were overwhelmed with large number heavy and assault class BattleMechs. Only two companies of the Cuirassiers survived the failed raid.

Durring 2761 the unit had been reformed and re-equipped again. Was used the occupation of the world of Lee. The unit faced off with House Davion's Syrtis Fusilers. The Cuirassiers were successful in use of their Jump Troops to inflicting moderated damage against the Davion troops.

Between 2890 to 2910 the Unit was used fought series of clashes coreward with House Kurita.

While conducted a raid against the Davion world of Bristol, in 2915 the unit over shoot their designated drop zones. Result of these errors, caused numerous personal and equipment loses which lead to its near-destruction yet again. Only a few companies managed to rally, but were quickly contained by Bristol's Militia.

They rebuilt yet again and successfully seizing world of Mesartim, in2978 from House Davion.

In 2999, the unit was overwhelmed on Ingersoll by Marik Aerospace Forces.

4th Succession War

• 3029 - Entire regiment is stationed Wei when House Davion invaded the world, dropping multiple regiments on the unit's positions. The unit is forced to retreat from the world.

Andurien/Canopus Invasion

Reduced to two battalions during the 4th Succession War, the Cuirassers rebuilt and garrisoned Gei-Fu and Harloc during the Andurien Wars.

Xin Sheng Campaign

In mid-3060s, the Rangers finish their assignment of defending Detroit for the Confederation to forces of Magistracy of Canopus. The unit was to return home to Victoria, but was called in action with new immergence of new pirate state. The Fronc Reaches began to threaten Trinity Alliance allies. Pirate bands such as Calderon Commandos began raid Taurian control space. The Rangers fought fews skimishes on world of Hellespont and other locations. Having difficulities trying to narrow down aims of Commandos, Chancellor said aide to in form of his own Death Commandos. The Froc Reaches government tired of the raiding as well, closed is borders limiting the Commandos's movement. This allow the unit return to Victoria.

As Rangers returned home, the unit was forced re-organize to cover both Free Worlds League & Federated Suns borders. The unit force to split precence between both Victoria and Decatur. Since Marshigama's Legionnaires mauling, the Rangers were left to hold the borders on it own as of 3067.

Jihad

In December 3068, Sung's Rangers were stationed on Victoria when recently hired mercenary unit, Olson's Rangers turn their guns against Shengli Arms they were changed to defend. After inflicting significate damage, Sung's Rangers attempted dislodge the renegade mercenary unit to stop them. However, mercenaries manage to escape them by hijacking neary by civilian DropShip. Sung's aerospace assets, Sung's Air Raiders joined with the Victoria Home Guard's aerospace fighters attempted to stop them from escaping, but they also failed after hijacking a JumpShip.

Sung's Rangers then broke up into battalion sized groups and protected the Capellan-Periphery border for the next ten years. They successfully repelled several attacks by the Taurian Concordat as well as several pirate groups. In fact they did so well that the commander of the Victoria Commonality Rangers is considering petitioning for each battalion to form the core of a regimental battle group once Capellan factories are back on-line. Sung's Rangers remain separated into battalions, with one each on Ward, New Roland, and Renown.

Officers

As part of a deal struck when the Cuirassiers still belonged to the Chesterton Reserves, the Sung family is entitled to hereditary command positions in the unit, though regimental and even battalion command are still determined based on skill by the CCAF. Part of this bargain also insures that unit only retains the Sung name as long as one member of the Sung line serves in the unit. The Sung family also present a new 'Mech to the commanding officer, whether they are related or not, every year.

As of 3025 the commanding officer was Colonel Kevin Sung.

As of 3063 the commanding officer was Sang-shao Jason Harris.

By stockpiling supplies that were abandoned by the Taurian Concordat when that nation recalled its troops, the Rangers were able to quickly replace their combat losses. They were at 90% of their pre-Jihad strength.

Notes

The unit is known by three different names. As with Cuirassiers, its later known as Sung's Rangers or Sung's Victoria Commonality Rangers (Sung's VCR).
